Main Applications
  • Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) as a multipurpose food substance under 21 CFR 182.6810.
  • Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for use as a general-purpose additive in Animal Feed and Pet Foods under 21 CFR 582. 1810 and 21 CFR 582. 6810.
  • USDA approved for use in meat and poultry products under 9 CFR 424.21 at a level not to exceed 0.5% by weight of the final product.
  • USDA approved for use as egg washing compound under GRAS status and according to good manufacturing practices.
  • Approved for production of modified food starch under 21 CFR 172.892. Residual phosphate not to exceed 0.4% calculated as phosphorus.
  • Approved for use as a boiler water additive for food contact under 21 CFR 173.310.
  • Potable Water Treatment: Prayon’s sodium tripolyphosphate conforms to the requirements of NSF/ANSI Standard 60. Used for corrosion and scale control and sequestering. Maximum use level 13 mg/L.
  • Sodium Phosphates are allowed as ingredients in or on processed products labelled as “organic” or “made with organic (specified ingredients or food groups(s))” in accordance with all restrictions under 7CFR205.605.
