It remains insoluble in water, but water-soluble salts of Cola®Cor 372 can be obtained by neutralization with alkanolamines and hydroxides. Notably, the performance properties of Cola®Cor 400 remain unaffected by water hardness, and any aqueous films formed dry down to non-tacky residues.

To achieve optimal rust protection, the solution pH should be adjusted to 8.5 or higher using the amine of choice.
