Triethanolamine (TEA) offers a wide range of applications because it has alcohol and amine characteristics. As an amine, TEA is mildly alkaline and reacts with acids to form salts or soaps. As an alcohol, TEA can be esterfied. TEA is a colorless to yellow, viscous, hygroscopic liquid with an ammonia-like odor.
